Hitachi sees $7.8 bln loss

Japan's top electronics maker, Hitachi, is likely to post a record 7.8 billion dollar net loss this year, the worst by a manufacturer in the nation's history.

The maker of everything from rice cookers to nuclear reactors has shifted from a mild profit outlook to a 4.1 billion dollar (USD) loss for the first nine months of the year, announced Tuesday, with the full year expected to be even worse.
