In 1968, German students were inspired by American protests against the Vietnam war but they also had their own German agenda: Only a generation after Hitler, they felt they were fighting an authoritarian state which used brutal methods to repress dissent. Some went underground, others joined mainstream politics. And tried to cope with the sexual revolution.
