Beatifying John Paul II

A French nun at the centre of a Vatican case to beatify pope John Paul II said Friday that she had been cured of Parkinson's disease by the late pontiff. Sister Marie-Simon-Pierre, who works as a nurse in a Paris maternity clinic, stepped into the limelight after nearly two years of secrecy. The 46-year-old nun had been suffering from Parkinson's, a degenerative disease of the nervous system, since 2002, but has testified that she was cured in April 2005 after praying to John Paul II. Her evidence of the miracle is essential in the beatification process of the late pope. Images and soundbites of her press conference.
